Mapzzz is proud to present Mapzzz EP01 – Forest Floor, the first effort in our bi-weekly series of free three-song EPs from a diverse range of burgeoning artists and producers. Our first EP comes way of Oakland-based musician/engineer Geoff Saba (a.k.a. Forest Floor) and we are excited to have this young, talented artist kick off the series. Saba’s music is a collision of influences through the lens of avant-pop in which the darker roots of blues and folk peek through dense layers of bubbling, shimmering noise. The multi-instrumentalist navigates amongst static and hiss as if he was the head of some cavernous expedition, leading the listener down to the dark, desolate underground only to reemerge with a new appreciation for what exists above. The compositions, which are completely recorded and performed by Saba, are all previously unreleased tracks although the original version of the song “IH” will appear on his forthcoming LP to come later this year. -via mapzzz.com
