If you’ve been paying attention, you should already be familiar with the RaveDeep name as we posted a little teaser mp3 from the project a week or so back. Either way, we assure you this is one to get excited about because we’ve gotten a hold of the first three tracks to surface from the newest undertaking of prolific Oakland producer Dave Reep (switch the letters around and you’ve got RaveDeep), who’s also known around these parts for such projects as Otherness, Liquorice Ginsberg, and, perhaps most notably, his burgeoning solo endeavors as Elephant & Castle. RaveDeep finds the Oaklander filtering his usual beat-oriented abstractions through the sensibilities of the larger bass music spectrum, pitting lush, meandering synths and dusty, chopped samples against aggressively percussive, and for the most part uptempo, excursions. The results are as rhythmically enticing as they are otherworldly. In other words—dope shit. -via mapzzz.com
