about

Well, we’re a week behind schedule for the latest installment in Mapzzz’s EP series, but we have a feeling all of that won’t matter soon after hearing the three slices of future-bass we’ve got in store for you this time around. First of all, we’d like to point out that this is indeed the tenth EP in our series, and we feel that this relatively small milestone called for us to change things up a bit, so for the first time in our on-going series we’ve tapped some burgeoning talent from outside the greater Bay Area. In fact, we’ve gone so far as to get a hold of some tracks from across the fucking Atlantic Ocean thanks to up-and-coming UK producer Medla. Yes, it wasn’t too long ago that we got introduced to the 19 year-old, Leeds-based producer’s take on bubbling 2-step/garage, and were floored by the mellow burner “14″ and the brooding anthem “What You Did.” Now Medla returns to our pages armed with three stunning tracks of smooth, crisp 2-steppin’ magic. Infectious chord progressions? Check. Intricate percussion skitterings? Check. Giant bass drums? Check. Giant bass lines? Of course. Chopped up Erykah Badu samples? Okay, that’s a little obscure, but yes, that’s on there too. Oh, and did we mention it’s virtually impossible to resist the urge to do some body movin’ to the futuristic cuts that grace Medla’s EP? Well, you can now consider yourself in the know. -via mapzzz.com
