Yes, it's true, another two weeks have come and gone and another fresh Mapzzz EP has arrived, this time we've tapped the psychdelic/indie/electro hybrid that is Swanifant to contribute to the seventh effort in our free EP series. The four-piece originally formed in the mystical mountains of Santa Cruz, CA back in '05 but since have relocated with its members now residing on both sides of the Bay in SF and our very own city of Oakland. We've been keeping an eye on Swanifant since we first had a chance to catch them live a few months back (which we highly recommend, by the way) and eventually got wind of a new collection of demos, entitled Moving Still, the group had put together. Well, we liked the demos so much we asked them to choose two songs from said demo EP and throw in a remix (which comes courtesy of Oakland's Lil Ben) and–voilà–you've got yourself Mapzzz EP07 - Swanifant. Three songs that exist somewhere between infectiously catchy indie pop, psychedelic meanderings, and thumping electro, complete with moments of sheer shreddiness and some–for the most part–incomprehensible vocals that serve as the intensifying tipping point. If you have a pulse, we really can't see how you could somehow resist this warm, gooey mix of distortion, beats, and more distortion. -via mapzzz.com
